The Saint John man convicted in the March 2011 crash that killed 50-year-old Sheila Bayers has been sentenced to three years in federal prison.

The King Street East man was found guilty of impaired driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death two weeks ago.

Court heard during the trial that Bayers’ car was stopped or almost stopped on the Airport Arterial on March 11, 2011, when Sullivan – going the wrong way – slammed into her, ejecting her from her car even though she had her seat belt on.

Sullivan had both marijuana and alcohol in his system and was over the legal limit at  the time of the accident.
