Nov 25, 2013 - GRIEVING BEAUMONT FAMILIES CALL FOR STIFFER DRUNK-DRIVING LAWS

Friends and families of three young Beaumont, Alta., men killed two years ago by an alleged drunk driver gathered at a roadside memorial Sunday to remember the trio and call for stiffer drunk-driving laws.

"They were well loved," said Gerard Marrinier, Brad Arsenault's uncle. "They were just the nicest boys you could ever meet — just always happy and it was really a shock to the families.

Arsenault, Thaddeus Lake and Kole Novak were killed when their vehicle was hit by an alleged drunk driver.

The families have helped collect tens of thousands of signatures pushing for tougher drunk driving laws.

Jonathan Pratt is facing charges of manslaughter and impaired driving causing death.

He is out on bail while he awaits his trial which is scheduled for April.
