Feb 28, 2017 - YOU CAN GIVE BLOOD THIS WEEK IN MEMORY OF TEEN DJ HANCOCK, KILLED BY A DRUNK DRIVER

Remember a Sudbury family's tragic loss and help those in need at the same time

If you've been meaning to donate blood, perhaps a couple of upcoming blood drives at Canadian Blood Services will be just the motivation you need.

From Feb. 27 to March 3, a blood drive is being held the Barrydowne Road blood clinic in memory of DJ Hancock, a teen who was killed by an impaired driver in the summer of 2014.

“We made a promise to the Hancock family that we will do our best to keep DJ's memory alive, and this in-honour clinic is one of those ways,” said Tom Tobin of the designated driver service Driverseat Sudbury, who helped to organize the blood drive in Hancock's memory.

As well, from March 20-24, another blood drive has been organized by Real Life Health/CrossFit Sudbury.

The company has adopted the Barrydowne Road blood clinic, and committed to recruit new donors and fill appointments to collect 224 donations at the clinic.

“I encourage the clients, friends and families of Real Life Health/CrossFit Sudbury to be heroes and donate blood the week of March 20-24,” said Dr. Adam Ball.

Canadian Blood Services is located at 944 Barrydowne Rd.
