Jan 08, 2015 - PROTESTS AT SENTENCING HEARING FOR MAN CHARGED WITH DEADLY CRASH [Francis Pesa]

Friends and family of a man killed in a suspected drunk driving crash one year ago, protested outside the Calgary Courts Centre on Thursday, as a sentencing hearing was held for the man accused in his death.

Friends and family of Francis Pesa carried banners and posters of impaired driving victims and demanded stiffer sentences for those found guilty.

Pesa was killed after a crash on New Year’s Day 2014, on Metis Trail. Chohan was driving a dodge truck and hit the BMW Pesa was driving, head on.

Pesa died several days later in hospital. Chohan’s blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Kulwinder Singh Chohan pled guilty to impaired driving causing death.
